Early access Now taking agencies & self-hosters

Ship n8n workflows
from dev to prod.

Review a visual diff, map credentials and environment values once, and promote with a Git commit. Built for the free Community Edition — no Enterprise license required.

  • Secrets never leave n8n
  • EU-hosted or self-hosted
  • Official public API only

Early access opens in batches from December 2026.

€667/mo

The cheapest n8n plan with Environments and Git — Business, billed annually. Source, Oct 2026

15–30min

A typical manual promotion: export, delete IDs, import, re-select credentials, fix IDs. Our estimate.

0secrets

Transferred by Promote. It maps credentials by reference — values never leave your instance.

The problem

Every promotion is a ritual.
One wrong click breaks prod.

The Community Edition has no environments and no Git sync. So teams copy JSON between instances by hand — and rebuild the same context every single time.

Today manual export / import
  1. 01 Export the workflow JSON from dev 1 min
  2. 02 Delete the "id" line so the import doesn’t clash 1 min
  3. 03 Import into prod — as a new copy with a new ID 1 min
  4. 04 Open every node and re-select the prod credential 5–10 min
  5. 05 Hunt down sheet IDs, channel names, base URLs 5–10 min
  6. 06 Re-wire the webhook path, deactivate the old copy 2–5 min
  7. 07 Hope you didn’t miss anything. No record of what changed. ∞
Per promotion ≈ 15–30 min · error-prone
With Promote review → promote
  1. 01 Open the diff. See every added, changed and removed node — and every parameter.
  2. 02 Check the mapping. Credentials and environment values are already remembered.
  3. 03 Promote. Prod is updated in place, the change lands as a Git commit.
Per promotion one review · one click
How it works

Set up in minutes. Promote in seconds.

No agent on your server, no changes to your workflows. Promote talks to n8n through its public API.

  1. 1

    Connect your instances

Add dev and prod with an n8n API key each. Promote reads workflows, credential names and IDs — nothing else.

    n8n-dev.acme.ioconnected
    n8n.acme.ioconnected
  2. 2

    Map once

Tell Promote which credential and which values belong to which environment. It remembers for every future promotion.

Postgres · dev Postgres · prod
    api.staging.io api.acme.io
  3. 3

    Review & promote

Read the diff, add a note, click promote. Every release becomes a commit in your own Git repo — with rollback.

Features

A real release process.
Minus the Enterprise license.

A focused toolkit for one job: getting changes from dev into production without surprises.

Visual diff

See exactly what will change in prod.

Node by node and parameter by parameter — including Code nodes and AI Agent prompts. No more guessing from raw JSON.

Credential mapping

Credentials, mapped by reference.

Promote swaps “Stripe (test)” for “Stripe (live)” on the way to prod. Secret values never leave n8n.

Environment values

No placeholders. Dev keeps running.

Tell Promote that sheet 1aXk… in dev is 9fQz… in prod. It swaps the literal on every promotion.

Updated in place

Same ID. Same webhook. Same history.

Prod workflows are updated, not re-imported. Webhook URLs keep working and execution history stays attached.

Git history

Every promotion is a commit.

In your own GitHub or GitLab repo. Roll back any workflow to any earlier version in one click.

Audit log Team

Every promotion, on the record.

Who promoted or rolled back what, when and why — with the required comment and the Git commit it produced.

Your server Self-hosted

Or run it next to your n8n.

One Docker container on your own server. Your n8n API keys never leave your network.

Compare

The missing middle.

Between copy-pasting JSON and a €667/month license, there was nothing. Here’s an honest comparison.

Security

Your secrets stay where they are.

Promote is built on the assumption that it should know as little as possible about your production system.

  • References, not values. Credentials are mapped by name and ID. Secret values are never read, stored or transferred.
  • Encrypted API keys. The n8n API keys you connect are encrypted at rest and only used to call the instances you added.
  • EU hosting — or yours. The cloud version runs in the EU. The self-hosted edition runs entirely on your server.
  • Public API only. No patched n8n, no database access, no agent. If n8n’s API can’t do it, Promote doesn’t do it.
FAQ

Questions, answered.

Something missing? Write to kontakt@senioguard.de — a human reads every email.

Is this allowed under the n8n license?

Promote never ships, modifies or hosts n8n. It is an external tool that talks to your instances through the official public API, the same way a script or CI job would. The Sustainable Use License governs the n8n software itself; your instances stay yours. This is our reading of the license, not legal advice.

Do you store my credentials?

No. Credential secrets never leave n8n. Promote only reads credential names and IDs so it can map “Slack (dev)” to “Slack (prod)”. The n8n API keys you connect are encrypted at rest — or stay entirely on your own server with the self-hosted edition.

Which n8n versions are supported?

Self-hosted Community Edition with the public API enabled, 1.x and 2.x. Workflow JSON changes between releases, so we test every new n8n release before marking it supported.

What happens to webhooks and execution history in prod?

Promote updates the existing production workflow in place instead of importing a copy. The workflow ID stays, so webhook paths and execution history stay too.

What if Promote is down?

Nothing happens to your automations. Promote is only involved at the moment you promote — your n8n instances run independently of it.

Why not just buy n8n Business?

If you also need SSO, more projects, queue-mode support and vendor support, Business is a good deal. If you mainly want a safe dev → prod path for the Community Edition, Promote costs a fraction of it.
